Ashley has practiced primarily plaintiffs’ side civil litigation for 15 years, since the inception of her legal career.
She specialized in advocating for adults and children who were sexually, physically, and emotionally abused but has also handled elder abuse, sexual and employment discrimination, stalking, defamation, anti-SLAPP, and appellate cases. Ashley has represented clients in federal and state courts in Oregon and eight other states, including several appeals from pre-trial rulings to state supreme courts.
At Dumas Law Group, LLC and Dumas & Vaughn, LLC, Ashley worked alongside her mentor and longtime legal partner to provide exceptional written and oral advocacy in complex, high-stakes litigation. As a two-woman firm, they took on some of Oregon’s (and the country’s) largest law firms in institutional child sexual abuse cases, such as those against the Catholic Church, Boy Scouts of America, and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As such, Ashley has extensive experience in all aspects of case- and litigation-management, from intake to trial preparation.
As judge pro tempore in Multnomah County, Oregon, assigned to hearing summary judgment motions, she has continued to expand her familiarity with other areas of law, and enjoys engaging in new issues and seeing exceptional advocacy from both sides of the bench. As a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association’s amicus committee since 2019, she keeps abreast of significant and developing legal issues that impact all Oregonians.
